Tom Barrington-Smith is an Associate in Maurice Blackburn’s Sydney office who focuses on litigation funding and insolvency. Tom is a collaborative and strategic lawyer who seeks a deep understanding of his clients’ needs, goals and values.
“I have a strong sense of justice in every sense of the term – access to justice, procedural justice and substantive justice. The most rewarding cases I’ve worked on involved standing up for marginalised groups, whether it was defending victims of domestic violence against weaponised defamation, protecting the privacy rights of adult services workers or the recovery of tens of millions of dollars of unpaid employee entitlements in circumstances of company insolvency.”
Tom has a diverse legal background including advising commercial and criminal clients, appearing as counsel in the Federal Court and ACT Supreme Court, providing litigation advice and oversight for the Commonwealth Government, and providing in-house legal services as a director of the National Arboretum.
